This event indicates that a performance counter object has failed a buffer alignment check. This might be because it's an old or incompatible version of the DLL in the event description.

As per MS KB249138, you can disable this checking by modifying the value of the Configuration Flags registry key at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib. The KB article is written for Windows 2000/XP, but that registry key is also valid for Windows 2003/2003 R2.

Beware that disabling the checking does not fix the problem. You still have a problem with the performance counter object/DLL, it's just that now you won't see this event in the logs anymore.
