Description »
The Host Remote Alerter detected an error while attempting to retrieve data from key = CompaqHost\OsPerf\Component\LogicalDisk in the registry. The data contains the error code.
Data formatted as » WORDS
0000: 000000ea

This warning is logged on HP ProLiant servers running a PSP of version 8.15a or older. This is an incredibly old version of the ProLiant Support Pack (PSP), and you should really download the latest version your hardware supports - and apply it to your server estate.

A Process Monitor trace will show you the cqmghost.exe process is reading the registry keys at HKLM\SYSTEM\CompaqHost\OsPerf\Component\LogicalDisk - and without any error. If cqmghost.exe or the %WINDIR%\System32\CPQMgmt\agentver.dll file is of version or older, you should be looking to upgrade the PSP. And don't forget to do the firmware at the same time.

As a temporary workaround, you may wish to disable disk performance counters by running diskperf.exe -N (if you're running Windows 2000).

The data, when formatted as words reads 000000ea, which is decimal 234, which is defined in Winerror.h as More data is available. Looking at the registry keys, you should find a REG_BINARY value for each logical drive that you have on your computer (including unparitioned space on a physical drive, it seems), eg LogicalDisk001, LogicalDisk002.

There is also a suggestion, in HP support document HP c02202636 that there is a conflict between the HP Insight Diagnostics, and McAfee VirusScan 8.7i with McAfee Agent 4.0, although the exact cause of this issue is not disclosed.
